In case you haven’t noticed, N716CD has been scheduled for its avionics upgrade starting on January 3rd. Both of the Garmin GNS 430W units will be replaced with Garmin GTN 650 GPS navigators (exactly like the ones in 68V, 21D and 2SV). We will also be replacing the Garmin GTX 327 transponder with a Garmin GTX 345 transponder with ADS-B In and Out capabilities, AND with Bluetooth connectivity to your tablet and EFB apps.
The GNS 430W navigators will be pulled out and will be “yellow-tagged”, meaning that they are “serviceable” (apparently that makes them a bit more valuable). We’ve done some online research and have decided to sell these units on our own rather than accept the trade-in value that the avionics shop was offering. We think we can get 10 to 20% more for these units that way. Our plan is to list them on eBay, but if you know of anyone who is looking for a good used GNS 430W, please put them in contact with us. These units will include the complete tray and GPS antenna.
