Welcome!

Sky-Vu Flyers, Inc. is dedicated to providing safe, affordable flying fun to its members. Our club is one of the oldest, continuously-operating, not-for-profit flying organizations in the state of Indiana. Incorporated in 1956, Sky-Vu Flyers has grown to 60 owner-members and four Cessna airplanes today.

Our airplanes are hangared year-round at two of the Indianapolis area's most conveniently located airports - Indianapolis Metro (UMP) and Eagle Creek (EYE) Airports. All airplanes are equipped with Tanis heaters to assist with cold-weather starts during the winter months.

Safety is key to our success
As a result, all Sky-Vu members are responsible for helping to maintain our airplanes in safe operating condition. We count on our members to promptly and responsibly report any maintenance issues to the appropriate maintenance officers.  Our maintenance officers make sure that the airplanes receive regular and unscheduled maintenance as required.

Fully insured

All Sky-Vu aircraft and members are covered by insurance purchased by the club. Insurance coverage includes a $1,000 deductible, full hull-replacement coverage and up to $1,000,000 of liability coverage per accident.

Over 50 years of flying in the Indianapolis community

In July of 2006, Sky-Vu Flyers, Inc. celebrated its 50th year as a flying club the greater Indianapolis area.  Sky-Vu initially started with a Cessna C-170 at the Mooresville Flying Club.  The plane was based at the Mooresville/Martinsville area airport just off of Indiana 37.  Two years a Piper PA-12 SuperCruiser was added and was based at the Brownsburg airport.  In 1961 the club changed its name the current name, Sky-Vu Flyers, Inc.

Over the years Sky-Vu has had a number of aircraft in its fleet including a Cessna C-120, Cessna C-150, Cessna C-172s, Cessna C-177, Cessna C-172RGs and Cessna C-182RGs.  Today, Sky-Vu's fleet consists of the four planes that you on these web pages.  They are located at both Indianapolis Eagle Creek Airpark and Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport.  The club has 60 members.

We're upgrading our fleet!

In May of 2004, Sky-Vu Flyers began implementation of a long-term plan to "modernize" our fleet beginning with the sale of two aircraft and purchase of a new or almost new airplane every three to four years. That first step was accomplished with the addition of our 2000 Cessna 182 in the fall of 2004.  In addition, we planned to upgrade the avionics in our remaining airplanes.  That too was completed.  In January 2005, our Cessna 172R and Cessna 182R were upgraded with advanced avionics stacks including the new Garmin GNS480 GPS/Nav/Comm package with Mode-S traffic alert.

The New Equipment Committee presented a proposal at the July 2006 membership meeting to continue our fleet upgrade.  Our recommendation was to replace our C182RG with a newer C182T.  A replacement plane was found and is now in the fleet. N721ZA is our latest upgrade.  It has a NavIII avionics package which includes the G1000 'glass panel'.  The plane also has TIS, terrain, and XM weather capability.

Sky-Vu upgraded its fleet in the Fall of 2006 with a 2004 182T including a NavIII avionics package.  Check it out by clicking on N721ZA.   Our long term plan to replace our existing fleet is continuing with the acquisition of this airplane.  If you are interested in joining and experiencing the fun of bring this new airplane into Sky-Vu, contact our membership officer.
